Lynn is a Gynae-Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) at Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust in the UK working with all aspects of gynaecological cancers, supporting of women and their families through the cancer journey.
Lynn qualified as a Registered Nurse in 1988 working both in the UK & Australia before settling into a career in gynaecology in 1991. In 2001 she took up the CNS post and has been pro-active in the field ever since working on developing local services and impacting on national practice. This includes sitting on the British Gynae-Oncology Society (BGCS) commissioning sub-group.
Her passion lies within all aspects of patient care but especially in survivorship issues and she regularly speaks at national & international conferences on this & other subjects. Her published works reflect her interest in consequences of treatment and sexuality, her latest contribution being co-author on the National Guidance on management of long term consequences following radiotherapy published by Macmillan. She received the Highly Commended Award in the NT/HSJ Innovation in cancer care (2012).
She works closely with national charities specifically Macmillan, Target Ovarian & Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust (JCCT) and is on the Ask the Expert/Advisory board for both Target & JCCT. Also writing patient information for web pages and printed material.
She is studying a MSc in Advance Nursing Practice to adapt to the ever changing needs of the role. To compliment her existing skills she completed a PGDip in Psycho-Sexual Therapy in 2014 and practice as psychosexual therapist in her spare time!
